Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 19,157 Cubs cards from 284 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1060 Topps #560 Ernie Banks All-Star  Wow!  The RNG gets us off on a great start!  Ernie played in both of the All-Star games in 1960.  He went 2-4 with a home run and a double in the first game.  Two days later, in the second game, he was 1-3.  Not a bad showing between the two!

1980s: 1981 Topps #331 Dennis Lamp Lamp was a 7 game winner for Chicago in 1981, but it was on the south side of town.  He was traded to the White Sox just before the '81 season started.

1990s: 1994 Conlon #1095 Chuck Klein  Another all-star card.... Klein was 1-3 with an RBI.

2000s: 2003 Bowman Heritage #197 Todd Wellemeyer  He made his big-league debut with the Cubs on May 15 in Milwaukee.  He pitched a scoreless 17th inning and got the save, the first Cub pitcher to earn a save in his MLB debut.

2010s: 2018 Topps Silver Packs #22 Javier Baez I never notice the weird position the ball is in, right below his chin

  1. That's a gorgeous piece of Ernie vintage.
I never think of Chuck Klein as a Cub... Phillies?
