2004 First Pitch Cubs

Reader Chad gifted me the Cubs team set from 2003 First Pitch.  It was my first look at First Pitch cards.  I had no idea that Upper Deck had their own version of Topps' Opening Day.  I've since found the Cubs team checklists from all of the First Pitch sets (2004 - 2006) and then went shopping at Sportlots.  Thankfully, most of the cards were readily available at 20¢ each.

The 2004 First Pitch set has a checklist of 300 cards.  That is more than half of the 540 cards in the complete UD base set.  

 

 

The two players in non-Cub uniforms, Derek Lee and Todd Walker, were acquired over the off-season.  First pitch shows them as Cubs while the UD base set has them with their former teams.  Todd Wellemeyer is included in First Pitch but was not in the base set, which seems odd.  Otherwise, the Cubs cards in First Pitch are identical their base set counterpart except for the different logos and First Pitch's lack of foil.
