the 2006 edition of Upper Deck's First Pitch was the fourth and final set. The set seemed to be a last-ditch effort to save the brand. Several changes were made. The set was reduced in size to just 220 cards. The biggest change was that the set was no longer a parallel to UD's base set. First Pitch had its own design and look. The checklist could include any player, not just those in UD's first series. The efforts failed to give the brand a boost and it was replaced by First Edition in 2007.
I do like the design that was used. For me, in addition to a decent picture, a card front needs to clearly display three thing about the player: name, team, and position. This design does that very well.
Definitely one of the better designs. Big clear player photo is nice
ReplyDeleteNever seen these before - This is a great design
ReplyDeleteNice cards: classy and uncluttered.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with these, either, but it's a nice design for that kind of set.
ReplyDeleteThis inspired me to pick up the last two Dodgers I need from this set.
