Reader Chad gifted me the 2003 set of First Pitch, which led me to get the other three sets. And that, in turn, had me to go ahead and pick up the three sets of First Pitch's descendant, First Edition.
The first edition of First Edition came out in 2007. It went back to the original concept of First Pitch (and Topps' Opening Day), a stripped down parallel to the flagship. The set has 310 cards and features players that were only in the flagship's first series. Because of that, notable Cubs players like Aramis Ramirez, Kerry Wood, and Geovany Soto were not included.
There is no First Edition logo on the cards. Instead, the design has a border is gold instead of white, which allows you to identify a card as a First Edition.
