I've got 21,549 Cubs cards from 316 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1959 Topps #130 Lou Jackson He played in 24 games for the Cubs in 1958 and hit .171. This came after hitting .320 in a full season in A ball. Clearly he wasn't ready to make that big of a jump.
1980s: 1988 Classic #216 Andre Dawson Dawson always looks like a man going about his business in a serious way. Don't mess with him!
2000s: 2001 Vine Line Post Cards Wrigley Field Ivy When I got the Cubs-published calendar from 2000, I recognized many of the pictures because they were used in this Vine Line set. This one of the ivy was used for the June calendar page.
That Lou Jackson is pretty sweet!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt. Cubs and red, white and blue borders/backgrounds always look great. Kind of like 1988 Fleer.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever heard of Bricks and Ivy cards in Hoopeston Illinois? You should look them up, if not. They get tons of Cubs that do events. Thought as a fellow Cubs fan you might be interested...
