The Cubs have partnered with Topps several times over the years to create special Cubs-only sets. Last year they put together a 14-card set that was given to season ticket holders. I guess that the Cubs were trying to do all they could to keep those fans happy.
The product on the field hasn't been too great, so fourteen baseball cards will make those season ticket holders happy and willing to pony up several thousand dollars again the next season.
Sure.
Anyway, back to the cards. They mimic the 2022 Heritage set, using the 1973 design. I wonder why they used the previous season's Heritage and not 2023? A few of the players are in both sets and their Cubs card has a picture different from the one in 2022 Heritage, so that is a good thing. The cards also have a special Cubs season ticket holder marking on them
The set has both current players and top prospects.
Very cool set. I can't afford Oakland A's season tickets (and with their current ownership... wouldn't buy them even if I could)... but I'd be excited if they came with cards. Very cool collaboration between the Cubs and Topps.
