It still amazes me that a card of a Hall of Fame players with only 199 copies available can be bought for only a couple bucks. Are there just too many different parallels available that the limited number of a particular card doesn't matter?
Are there just not enough collectors any more?
Whatever the reason, I'm thrilled to scoop these up for bargain prices.

I think the fact that some of the elite names in baseball history (Mays, Ryan, Banks, Koufax, etc.) are appearing in several sets per year, whether its Topps, Panini, Upper Deck, etc. And heaven forbid it be a Flagship product, where there are 10-15 parallels per card number plus all the relics, sticker autos, gimmicks, etc. One of the players I collect had over 40 versions of what I call "collectible" cards come out in the span of two weeks recently, and that was just Prizm, Archives and Topps Series 2. I went from chasing only about 20 cards to almost 70 in the course of two weeks. I think that's why you can find Ernie Banks /199 or /99 cards for a couple bucks. For every Archives gold card, there is a Panini 42 Mojo and several color versions available.
