Long Time No See

The 2012 Heritage set contains this short-printed error variation of Darwin Barney.  I grabbed one for my Barney player collection early on and have since been tracking any Ebay sales for the card.

Last week there was an auction for one.  It was the first to show up on Ebay since January, 2017.  It sold for $81.  I thought it would go for a higher price since it has been unavailable for over a year and a half.  Also, the previous five sales had an average price of $137.

I have now tracked a total of 41 different sales of the card and the average price is $94.20.

Here's a look at all of those sales...

  1. I wonder how many of them are the same card. Too bad they aren't serial numbered. I find it amazing that the average price is so high on this SSP, even though it's almost as common as a /50 serial numbered card. I suppose not everyone keeps such meticulous records as yourself!

  2. Unfortunately, I have way too much to deal with regarding my collection that big time boo boo's like that one escape me. Heck I might even have some in traded boxes. Problem is I wouldn't know what the r=error would be.

  3. Wow. Good to know that there are fans/collectors out there who are willing to dig deep into their pockets for a guy who hasn't played this season. I wonder if they're Cubs fans, set builders, or a combination of both. Or maybe Tom is onto something and these the same cards being passed around and around.

  4. I still eagerly await the day the Ryan Dempster Abe variation becomes affordable or sneaks into a dime box somewhere
