Life Is Good x 4

Four good things, all connected to each other...mostly baseball.

A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend in town that runs the local funeral home.  Nobody died, but his funeral home sponsors an end of the year award we give to an 8th grader at school and I needed to give him the name of the winner for the plaque...

Good thing #1....it was an end of the school year award...and now the school year is over! Yeah...summer vacation!  I still work about four hours a day, but its a very quiet building and things are much more relaxed.  Plus, if I need to take a day to go to the ballgame, I can!

...After I give him the name, he says, "How would you like to go to a Cubs game?  We got season tickets and if they aren't being used, you can have them for a game."  It took me about a quarter second to say yes!  I told him I'd check the schedule and give him a couple dates.

Good thing #2...Free Cubs tickets!!

I check the schedule and call him back with two dates, August 2 or 27.  Both of those are Cubs baseball card giveaway dates and I could not only go to a game for free, but I could get four sets (from the four tickets) of the Cubs / Topps Archives set.  He called me back the next day and said the August 2 date was good.

Good thing #3...Four free sets of Cubs baseball cards.

At this point I was happy with three good things.  Then last week he gave me an envelope that contained the four tickets.  When I opened it up...

...look who's on the ticket!   I knew Barney was on tickets for two different games.  I've already got the ticket from the first game, but I didn't bother to look at the date of the second game.  Turns out its August 2.

Good thing #4...Four Darwin Barney tickets!

I was going to have to buy the tickets after the game for my collection, but now I've got four free ones!

School's out...four free Cubs tickets....four baseball card sets...four Darwin Barney tickets...
Life is Good!!

  1. Congratulations! Can't beat free tickets to a ballgame... unless they're free tickets to a ballgame that's giving away free baseball cards ;-)
