I'm assuming you all saw the latest in the long line of El Mago plays. A combination of his magic and the Pirates' stupidity made for a pretty amazing sequence.
I have to assume that Topps will put out a Topps Now card of the play. I may have to get one. That will give me the quintessential "Cards That Accurately Portray the Player" card for Javier Baez.
That was an awesome, crazy, heads up play for sure!
ReplyDeleteI posted a breakdown of the play on Quora. https://www.quora.com/Can-a-base-runner-on-3rd-base-score-from-3rd-base-if-a-batter-hits-the-ball-and-runs-backwards-from-1st-base-within-the-baseline-until-the-baserunner-scores-If-so-how-or-why-and-what-is-the-backstory-to-the-rule/answer/Brett-Pasternack
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely crazy stuff. I mean, a Little League first baseman should have had a better understanding of what to do than Craig did. But credit to Báez for taking advantage of Craig's mistake so deftly.
