But while I was gone, my A&G finally arrived! I picked up the complete set of 350 cards, one of the insert sets (I'll have more on that set in a few days), a Cubs team set plus inserts, the Cubs relics, and a couple Darwin Barney minis. I really do enjoy having all the cards come at once.
Up today are the basic Cubs cards from the set. The team had a sub-average representation in the set of nine cards. Only eight of the 30 teams had fewer cards.
Darwin Barney and Anthony Rizzo are making their A&G Cubs debut.
The rest of the Cubs are A&G veterans.
The three horizontal cards are all action shots as opposed to the posed shots on the vertical cards. If I had my druthers, I'd prefer Topps stick with all vertical cards. The modern action shots seem out of place on retro-type cards.
On deck for tomorrow: the inserts and relics
I am a big fan of horizontal cards but I agree with your analysis that they don't necessarily belong in a vintage-esque type set like A&G.
