Topps 1969 - 2010 Complete Set Prices

Here is my monthly look at complete set prices, taken from the first five completed sales listings on Ebay on September. The prices do not include shipping costs.

There were some high-end 1970 sets sold along with some relatively cheap '71's.

  1. It surprises me that the '82 set consistently outprices the '83 set. I always hear collecters rave over the '83 set (more star rookies, better design, etc), while some complain about '82's design or the subsets in it.

  2. Thanks for this- one of my favorite features of your blog! I think I like tracking prices more than actualy collecting sometimes! If only some sort of guide existed... a third party... guide of some sort... they could call it a "price guide" and it would be accurate and honest... and all would be well...

Also, it can be argued that the star power of Cal Ripken, Jr (even on a shared RC with two scrubs) outshines the combined power of Sandberg, Gwynn and Boggs from the '83 set. To test this theory, ask people who don't know anything about baseball which of those 4 they know. I'm guessing Ripken is known by nearly 100% of them. Just a guess though... -Andy
