I know lots of people shrug aside second half stats - as do I - but Yu Darvish’s 118 strikeouts vs 7 walks is the best strikeout to walk ratio a starting pitcher has had (75+ IP) in a second half in the history of baseball.
The history of baseball.
I knew that Yu had a great second half, but really, wow, only seven walks in 118 innings. Best in the history of baseball. Amazing.
To give you a visual, I've got 118 Yu's followed by 7
That stat stunned me too. I thought he had been kind of a bust in Chicago. Guess I haven't been paying attention!
ReplyDeleteI'd still like to see him pitch to contact more and get into and out of the 7th inning on a more consistent basis. But, 118 to 7 is VERY impressive.
ReplyDeleteFrom 1965 to 1971, Dick Hall's unintentional walks per season were 4, 4, 4, 2, 3, 4, and 2.

Wow. Glad to see Yu has got his groove back.
