Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 17,696 Cubs cards from 213 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: Topps 1954 #94 Ernie Banks   Wow!  The RNG starts us off with one of the icons of Cubs cards, Ernie Banks' rookie card. This was one one the last Topps cards I bought to complete my Cubs run.  The top right corner is dinged, but I don't care!

1980s: 1985 Leaf #243 Steve Trout  This is from one of the years of confusion, when Leaf cards also had the Donruss logo.

1990s: 1993 Stadium Club #494 Steve Buechele  Buechele had a solid season in his first full year at third for the Cubs.  He led NL 3rd basement with a .975 fielding percentage and made just one throwing error.

2000s: 2003 Topps Total #466 Dave Veres  The 2003 season was the final MLB season for Veres. He went 2-1 with a 4.68 ERA working out of the bullpen.

2010s: 2014 Tribute #63 Andre Dawson  This one is in the Dawson player collection since I don't chase the teams sets from Tribute.

  1. I wish Tribute cards weren't so thick. I'm always struggling to track down a top loader for them. I have a couple in 9-pocket pages, but I feel like it's a stretch to get the card in the pocket. Literally.
