I've got 19,312 Cubs cards from 285 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1961 Topps #317 Jim Brewer Remember when Topps would put a rookie star on a card and that was it? Fast forward to today and I've got seven Brailyn Marquez cards so far this year.
1980s: 1984 Jewel Leon Durham Jewel gave us a rare look at Durham without his glasses.
1990s: 1992 Topps Gold #543 Jerome Walton The 1989 Rookie of the Year was terrible in 1992. He hit .127 for the Cubs, spent time in AAA, and was then traded to the Angels. After the trade he moved to California's AAA team and spent the rest of the season with them.2000s: 2001 Team Issued Ryne Sandberg 1984 Reprint This card was given away at Wrigley Field on June 23, which was exactly 17 years after the famous Ryne Sandberg game against the Cardinals. Well done, Cubs marketing department!2010s: 2017 Bowman 1992 Bowman #AR Anthony Rizzo Tony looking daper!
I was so glad to see you back and running the blog. I appreciate the 5 random cards, my personal favorite. How about some Dave Kingman cards or perhaps some 1970's teams sets......so we can remember the old days.
