When I was at Wrigley Field for Opening Day I made sure to pick up the 2023 edition of the Cubs scorecard.
The design has a minimalist retro look to it. It is also a familiar look.
The Cubs have used the same basic design for the past three seasons. That is pretty disappointing, coming from an organization that at one time utilized the artistic greatness of Otis Shepard.
My scorecard collection now runs from 1932 through 2023. Below is a look at all of them. Note that there is a gap between 1940 and 1947, when the Cubs didn't sell a standalone scorecard. Those years they sold a program and the scorecard was included inside. I do have one from each of those years, but they are kept in the program collection, not with the scorecards. Also, there is no scorecard from 2020 since the games from that season were played in an empty ballpark.
When you look at the covers over the years you can see just how boring are the most recent three.
Generic like the backs of modern Topps flagship. Disappointing.
