You would have thought that a gum brand that is based on baseball would have been bigger into the baseball card scene. But nope, they have just two card sets and only one in the 1980s.
Their Eighties set came out in 1986 and is called Home Run Legends. It features the eleven players that were members of the 500 home run club at the time. A twelfth card has a composite picture of all the members of the 500 homer club.
Ernie Banks was the lone Cub in that exclusive group.
The design of the cards should look familiar. It is the same one used on the Baseball Immortals set.
Mr. Cub is on both sets and here are the two cards side-by-side.
Geez - with the Baseball all time greats - and these cards - there were 3 slightly different and 1 different Ernie Banks cards produced with that design in the mid 1980s. Interesting
