Eighties Alphabetically - Champions

Champions was a one and done set put out by Donruss in 1984.  It consists of 60 cards that measure 3½" x 5".  There are ten Hall of Famers on the checklist along with 49 current players and a checklist card.

There weren't any Cubs among the HOFer but they did land two players on the active list.

Ironically, neither of these two would finish the 1984 season with the Cubs. Fergie was cut during spring training and Buckner was traded to the Red Sox in late May.

  1. Don't see this set pop up on blogs too often. I think the only card I own from this set is the Jeff Burroughs. Just looked over the checklist on COMC and it's pretty impressive though.
