A Lot of 1952 Cubs

This was a Christmas present to myself. An auction of a lot of seven 1952 Cubs was ending on Christmas Day. This was good news for me. It could give me a chunk of 52s at once. But even better, with the auction ending on Christmas, it wouldn't see much action and I could get the lot at a good price.

On Christmas Day, our family tradition is that we open presents at home in Michigan in the morning, and then head to my parents in the Chicago burbs. This year, before we left for Chicago, I set my Bid-O-Matic. While we were opening presents and making merry, it picked up seven cards at a bargain price. Merry Christmas, indeed!

The only down side of a Christmas auction win is that delivery may be a little slow. I guess it's OK if a seller wants to celebrate Christmas, too, and not get their items in the mail right away. It took a couple weeks, but the cards did finally arrive.

If you want to know more about these guys' statistics, you can go to Baseballreference.com. But thanks to Topps and the back of the cards, I will be able to tell you what color hair and eyes they had!

Frank Baumholtz, blue eyes, brown hair

Joe Hatten, blue eyes, light brown hair

Paul Minner, hazel eyes, blond hair

Ron Northey, brown eyes, brown hair

John Pramesa, brown eyes, black hair

Willard Ramsdell, brown eyes, black hair

Bob Rush, blue eyes, brown hair

With these seven, I am now up to 11 of the 28 Cubs from the set. And more are on the way.
