Eighties Alphabetically - Big

The Big set came out in 1988.  It feels to me that this was Topps' first attempt at a Heritage type set.  The cards were Big because they were the same size (2 5/8" x 3 3/4") at the original Topps cards of 1952 through 1956.  The look of the cards also is reminiscent of those early Topps sets.

There are seven Cubs among the 264 cards in the 1988 set.  You can see how the design invokes the look of the 1952 Topps cards.  It's not Heritage, with a direct copy of the design, but it definitely has that 1952 vibe.

1989 has the same big-sized cards and same 1950's Topps vibe.  The set increased in size to 330 cards and the number of Cubs was up too, with eight.
