Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 21,632 Cubs cards from 316 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: Topps 1957 #247 Turk Lown  This is such an awkward looking pose, yet it was one seen often in the '40s and '50s.  It makes the left foot look huge and do we really need a crotch shot?

1980s: 1986 Topps #125 Dave Lopes  Lopes always seem to have that "don't mess with me" look that he has in this shot.

1990s: 1998 Finest #272 Kerry Wood Finest hopped right on the Kerry Wood bandwagon in 1998.

2000s: 2009 Topps Traded #39 Jake Fox It looks like he hit a spring training home run.

2010s: 2012 Topps Stickers #210 Geovany Soto The 2012 season was Soto's last with the Cubs.  He and his .199 season average got traded to the Rangers on July 31.  He hit .196 for the Rangers over the last two months of the season.

  1. Remember that spring where Jake Fox put up video game numbers? I've been fooled so many times by Cubs with really wonderful springs... Gary Scott was another. Oh, good times.
    Can't wait for spring baseball!

  2. Thanks for the sampling. The Fox and Soto are sharp cards. I like the awkward Lown, too.

  3. The Turk image is really great. I don't remember seeing that one before, and now want a copy!
