Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 16,082 Cubs cards from 135 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1978 Topps #564 Mick Kelleher  Kelleher was the Cubs main utility infield guy in 1978.  He played in 68 games and hit .253.  That average was pretty good for him, 40 points above his career average.

1980s: 1989 Score Traded #85 Jerome Walton  1989 me: Look, a Jerome Walton rookie card.  He's going to win the Rookie of the Year!  This is going to be worth a fortune!
Today's me:  a fortune = 18¢ at Sportlots.

1990s: 1990 Topps Stickers #46 Ryne Sandberg  Ryno's charging the  ball to make a play!  It's a sunny day and he's wearing flip-down sunglasses.... awesome!!

2000s: 2005 Baseball Heroes #66 Ryne Sandberg  The cards says "1984 Sandberg Does it All" but the picture is from 1997.

2010s: 2017 Heritage #9 Jon Lester Wins Leaders  With his 18 wins, Lester will be on the 2019 version of this card.  That's some nice symmetry with the 1970 set because...

..... another Fergie was on it.

  1. I was/am a big fan of Mighty Mick. I had the pleasure of interviewing him at Yankee Stadium. It was one of the few times I bent the rule and asked for a picture
