2003 Upper Deck 40 Man Cubs Set

Upper Deck 40 Man was back for a second year in 2003.  However, the name should have been changed to 36 Man as the set size shrank by nearly 200 cards.  I'm guessing the brand didn't catch on as the 2003 was the final edition.  Topps kept plugging away with Total for a few more years, but Upper Deck ditched the big set.

The number of Cubs card slipped too, going from 47 in 2002 to 35 a year later.  The highlight of the set is the checklist card, which is the first one I've got below.  You get a good look at Antonio Alfonseca giving his battery-mate a high six.  If you're not aware of it, he has six fingers... you can see his bonus pinkie in the picture.

  2. This is my favorite of the "full-roster" sets from this time period. I just added the final Dodger today!
