I'm not doing my 70's Saturdays in any sort of order, so lets look at the end of the decade and the 1979 Topps set. It's got a little of everything... floating heads, one of my all-time favorites Bill Buckner, a few actions shots, lots of home pinstripes, and a member of the '69 Cubs. Lots of good stuff here!
That’s always been my favorite Kingman card, as it seems like a genuine smile.
ReplyDeleteLove the 1970 cards. That was when I was young and actually thought I would end up playing for them. Oh, the wiffle ball games and imitating Jerry Morales basket catch and loved the fact that people of all shapes could play.....like the big-boned Rick Rueschel and the handicapped Bill Buckner limping out doubles and the inept.....most of the Cubs players. I guess teaching physics and chemistry was my destiny, but I still fly a Cubs win flag in my classroom......and dream of getting to take batting practice in Wrigley with the wind blowing out.
