An Archives Card of a Non-Cub Cub

I'm not going after the SSP base or autograph cards from Archives, but there was one other Cub card I was half interested in.  When I saw that I could get it for a couple bucks, I went ahead and got it.

Will Ferrell.

With this card, 2015 becomes the year of the non-Cub Cubs cards.

Between this and the five First Pitch card for the flagship, I now have some pretty odd names in my Cubs cards spreadsheet.  Along with Tinker, Evers, Chance, Cavarretta, Banks, Williams, Jenkins, Santo, and Sandberg, I now also have Ferrell, Elliot, Handler, Morello, Pratt, and Vedder.

I'm not sure I like that.

  1. I don't mind the Vedder, because from every interview he's done up in the booth with our announcers he seems to be a legitimate Cub fan. Big. Time.
Plus, I'm also a fan of his music.

  2. Yeah - I would call Vedder a legit Cub for sure. He knows Cubs lore well enough that he is not someone that jumped on as a fan a couple years back.

  3. I seem to recall another insert/subset from about 10 years ago that included celebrity fans. The Cubs had a couple of guys. I can't remember off the top of my head who put it out but Joe Mantegna was one and seems to throw out a first pitch/sing the stretch every year or so.

  4. And Mantegna had the idea for, and co-wrote the play "Bleachers Bums."
