Yesterday the base set, today the inserts.
GQ is not an insert heavy brand. This year there are just three insert sets, and between them a total of fifty cards.
Power Alley has 30 cards and...
...one Cub, Andre Dawson.
Walk-off Winners has ten card, including...
...Kris Bryant. This is from July 27 when he hit a walk-off homer against the Rockies. it's nice that he was included, but I wish Topps has used his walk-off on August 24.
That was the homer that included Pedro Strop running along side of him. It was one of the best moments of the season.
The third insert set in 2016 GQ is Glove Stories. The Cubs were shut out of this one.
Cubs could have had their own Walk-Off insert set. What did they end up with, 12 or 13 last year?
ReplyDeleteActually, I started making a custom set last year I called Wrigley Walk-Offs. It had a cutout photo of the player batting on one side and the home plate celebration faded into the background on the other. I think I got up to the first 8 or 9 before something else caught my attention.
Topps is running the Walk Off thing into the ground already. The first ones in 2012 flagship were the worst insert design ever. Now they've put them in a half dozen consecutive products. Just mix it up a little!
