2016 Pro Debut Cubs

Well, their not quite Cubs yet, but they hope to be some day.

The 2016 Pro Debut set features 11 different Cubs prospects.  Topps keeps up the misnamed set because of the 11 players, only two made their pro debut last year.   One player, Willson Contreras, has been a pro since 2011, which means his pro debut was five years ago.

The players represent three of the Cubs minor league teams.

  2. I've long been confused as to what Topps is achieving with Pro Debut other than just pushing out minor league cards to get more prospect issues into the mainstream for the prospectors. Which they also do with Heritage Minors.
If they were technical, there wouldn't be any cards about Low A or High A, given very few players start at AA or AAA in their careers. Players like Happ, Almora, Torres and McKinney already have cards out. Surprised CJ Edwards didn't make it into this set, too.
