Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 15,090 Cubs cards from 122 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1964 Topps Giant #52 Billy Williams  There was one of the three Cubs in the set and Ernie Banks wasn't among the other two.  Billy was young and on the rise, Ernie was trending the other direction.

1980s: 1987 Donruss Traded #51 Paul Noce  Noce started the 1987 season in Iowa and then made his MLB debut with the Cubs on June 1.  He spent a month in the starting lineup filling in for an injured Ryne Sandberg and then Shawon Dunston.  Once everyone was healthy he went back to Iowa until the rosters expanded in September.

1990s: 1997 Fleer #285 Dave Swartzbaugh By 1997 Swartzbuagh was 29 years old and had a short stint with the Cubs the two previous seasons.  He got one last shot in 1997 and gave up eight runs in eight innings over two starts.  The Cubs dropped him from the 40 man roster over the winter and he never returned to the majors.

2000s: 2004 Topps #332 Sammy Sosa Season Highlights  Sammy hit #500 against Scott Sullivan of the Reds on April 4, 2003.  At the time it was a very big deal.  Now, not so much.  On his call of the home run on WGN TV, Chip Carey said that Sammy earned his ticket to Cooperstown.  Nope.

2010s: 2013 Cooperstown Collection #66 Billy Williams  The RNG starts and ends today with cards of a great player that did earn his way into Cooperstown,
