That's about all I can say about Game 5.
Falling behind early.....Taking a big lead....Letting the lead slowly erode...hanging on in the end. It was a crazy roller coaster of a game.
After being terrible in spring training, he put together a great season, converting all but one save opportunity during the regular season. After giving up a grand slam on Wednesday, he comes back on Thursday for a seven out save.
The guy seemed to be on fumes in the 8th inning and was bailed out by a Willson Contreras pick-off. The Nats had the top of their order coming up in the 9th and I had a very uneasy feeling. But Davis somehow found something left in the tank and recorded the Cubs only 1-2-3 inning of the night, including striking out Jayson Werth and Bryce Harper.
I wonder if Davis will complain over the off-season that Joe Maddon misused him. I'm thinking not.
So now its on to LA where everything from last year's NLDS is flipped. Its the Dodgers that have the most wins in the NL, home field, rest from a 4 game NLCS, and the favor of the odds makers.
Should be interesting....
That was one helluva game. Congratulations on the win!
