I've got 19,130 Cubs cards from 284 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1962 Topps #89 Barney Schultz Schultz was a late bloomer. The 1962 season was just his second full season in the majors and he was 35 years old.1980s: 1984 Topps Nestle #456 Cubs Team You know it wasn't a good season when your pitching leader has an ERA north of 4.
1990s: 1999 Pacific #79 Manny Alexander Alexander played in 90 games for the 1999 Cubs and hit a career-high .271. His reward? Getting traded to the Red Sox.
Bob Anderson was #209 in the original 1958 set, and he doesn't look much happier than Guzmán, so points for accuracy I guess.
ReplyDeleteAmaya never got above AA, but I remember him fondly as a Peoria Chief.
ReplyDeleteShoot... I just looked it up... he was part of the Kane County group that Vogelbach was apart of. He still had a decent season and was good about giving autos.
