I've got 20,382 Cubs cards from 301 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1973 Topps #44 Rick Monday Monday was sporting some pretty long sideburns! And here's a question -- the people in the top row of bleachers got to sit on folding chairs. Did they have to pay extra for that??
1980s: 1989 Upper Deck #61 Frank DiPino The lefty never pitched for the 1989 Cubs. He became a free agent after the 1988 season and the Cubs allowed him and his most recent ERA of 4.98 to move elsewhere.
1990s: 1990 Publications International Hottest Rookies Dwight Smith Smith was one of the hottest rookies, but cooled down in 1990, never repeating stats like he had in 1989. His final career average is .275, which is 49 points below the .324 he hit as a rookie.
2000s: 2002 Vintage #166 Kerry Wood I still have a hard time with Vintage, as Upper Deck just blatantly ripped off Topps's designs.
Milhouse van Houton is so going to want that Rick Monday card! Better sideburns than Yaz, at a much more reasonable price.
