1976 ISCA Cubs

Today's cards come from an old and probably unknown set.  It was totally off my radar until I started going through the Standard Catalog.

Your sense of geography will help you know a little about the cards.

The state outlined in red is Indiana.  All three of these players are native to Indiana.

Want to guess where the set came from?

In 1976 the Indiana Sports Collectors Association put out a set made up of Indiana-born players.  There were 26 cards in the set and three are Cubs cards.

Mordecai Brown was born in Nyesville.  I actually went to his birthplace on a vacation and saw the plaque they have for him.

Billy Herman hails from New Albany.  The town named their ballpark after the Hall of Famer.

A native of Terre Haute, Art Neft went to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in his hometown.  The college's baseball field is named for him.

  1. I had never heard of Art Nehf before. Had to look him... baseball was so different back then... ERA of 2.68 in 1928 with 176 innings with 55 walks and only 40 punch outs. Crazy.
