Five Random Cubs Cards
I've got 17,298 Cubs cards from 203 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1979 Topps #592 Mike Krukow The 1979 Cubs finished two games under .500. Krukow did his part by finishing at .500, 9-9 over 28 starts.
1980s: 1987 Topps #369 Brian Dayett Dayett came to the Cubs with some hype in a trade with the Yankees after the 1983 season. He never lived up the the hype and was very average, at best. The 1987 season was his last with the Cubs. He was sold to the Nippon Ham Fighters of the Japanese Pacific League in October, 1987.
1990s: 1992 Mr. Turkey #22 Ryne Sandberg Mr. Turkey didn't have an MLB license, and he did a nice job of picking a picture that works without the logos.
2000s: 2005 Zenith #232 Ryne Sandberg When I see the Zenith name, I don't think of baseball cards. I think of TV sets.... Zenith, the quality goes in before the name goes on.
2010s: 2016 Baseball Caramels Jake Arrieta This card comes from an independent set put out after the Cubs won the World Series.
1900s - 1970s: 1979 Topps #592 Mike Krukow The 1979 Cubs finished two games under .500. Krukow did his part by finishing at .500, 9-9 over 28 starts.
