Grandpa the Manager

It didn't take very long and it seemed somewhat inevitable.  David Ross is the manager of the Chicago Cubs.

If Heritage 2020 includes cards for the managers, Ross will have a one that looks something like this.

Ross was the front-runner going in to the hiring process, and Theo must not have heard anything in the two interviews that would change his mind.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Ross was a well-liked teammate and a clubhouse leader.  But now he's not one of the guys, he is the boss.  His former teammates will have to treat him differently and Ross will have to deal with them differently too.

The window of opportunity for the core of this team is quickly closing.  I hope Ross can get them back to playing up to the expectations we had after the 2016 season.

Good luck, Grandpa Ross!

  1. I'm not sure how I feel about this hire. Ross and Zo were my favorites from the championship team. I like them because of who they are on and off the field... I worry that Ross will change or will be asked to change his persona.
On a somewhat related note, it doesn't matter who is making out the lineup card if the talent isn't there. This team has some holes and that's on Theo and Jed to fix this off season.

  2. Yes it seemed right off the bat that Rossy would be the new bossy. The team would have to play for him like he's their manager, not their buddy.
