Five Random Cubs Cards
I've got 17,357 Cubs cards from 203 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.
1900s - 1970s: 1917 Collins-McCarthy #126 Art Wilson Wilson was on the team that played the first game at Wrigley Field in 1914, the Chi-Feds, and was on the first Cub team to play in Wrigley Field in 1916.
1980s: 1998 Bowman #291 Mark Grace Looks like an easy play for Grace to make.
1990s: 1997 Collectors Choice #286 Brooks Kieschnick Looks like he poppppped it up, as Harry Caray would say. Grace in the card above could have made the play!
2000s: 2006 Upper Deck American Family Insurance #6 Matt Murton Orange Guy sliding in some orange-looking dirt.
2010s: 2013 Bowman BTP #37 Albert Almora Bowman's 37th ranked prospect made it to the majors in 2016.
1900s - 1970s: 1917 Collins-McCarthy #126 Art Wilson Wilson was on the team that played the first game at Wrigley Field in 1914, the Chi-Feds, and was on the first Cub team to play in Wrigley Field in 1916.

Oh, nice action shot of Murton. I hadn't seen that one before.
ReplyDeleteSo, are you going to expand this to six cards when we reach the next decade? Or maybe lump the 2020s into the 2010s until there's enough cards in the new decade?
I was planning to add the 2020s to the 2010s for a few years and once the 2020's start to pile up, separate them and put the '80s in with the first group. That would put around 4,000 in each decade.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the randomizer got a bit confused and threw an extra '90s card in there. Computers!
ReplyDeleteBad typing... the Bowman is from 1989... oops!
