Matt Mervis Follows the Rules

 

I finally got one and I'm glad I waited.  The Matt Mervis bubble has burst.  Two months ago his autographed cards were going for hundreds of dollars. Then he was called up by the Cubs and the prices went even higher.  

However, in 27 games in the big leagues he hit just .167 and had three home runs.  Those numbers resulted in a trip back to Iowa for Mervis.  Since then his autograph prices have been falling.  As of Sunday afternoon, only one of his last ten sold autographs topped the $100 mark.  Several have been going in the $20-40 range.  Are those who bought his cards two months ago kicking themselves?

He is the 160th player in my collection that has a certified autograph card that shows his as a Cub in a season that he played with the Cubs.  Of those 160, 13 are currently on the Cubs roster.
