Don't Put An 80-Year-Old Man on a Baseball Card

Here is a young Ernie Banks, with his whole career ahead of him.


By the late '50s he was one of the most dominant players in the game


His best days were behind him in 1970, but this is the Ernie of my childhood, Mr. Cub


I really don't want my mental picture of Ernie corrupted by pictures like these...

    I bought 2 packs of Goodwin trying to decide if I wanted a box and this card was one of the reasons I decided not to. I totally agree with you.

    When it comes to baseball, Upper Deck turns me off. If this is the best they can do, just stop.

    IMO, of the non-Topps products out there, Panini > Upper Deck.

    As confusing as Allen & Ginter can seem sometimes, at least the cards look pretty nice. The more I see of the Goodwin Champions set, the more I think how awful it appears.

    I wasted some bills on a few '09 Goodwin Champions a while back. The set is truly an abominations. Bad checklist, weak hits, bizarre case hits, Lebron. The list goes on, but I think i might just feed them to the rabbit for much needed roughage and essential inks.
