A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the fundraiser that was happening for a couple of Oregon youth baseball organizations. The producers of the movie Calvin Marshall were involved, and so was former Cub Darwin Barney, who had a small part in the film.

Calvin Marshall Benefit for Southern Oregon Baseball
Calvin Marshall was filmed in Oregon in 2007. It had its local premiere at the Ashland Independent Film Festival in 2010 and was released theatrically in the summer of 2010.
We are bringing it back this month as a fundraiser for Southern Oregon Baseball which provides training programs to youth in Jackson County and is run by Bill Rowe who was one of the actors in the movie. During the month of March, half of all proceeds from sales of Calvin Marshall tickets, streaming and merchandise on our website will go to Southern Oregon Baseball to fund equipment, gear, tournament fees and youth scholarships.
Darwin Barney, former Chicago Cubs 2nd baseman has a small role in the film as the shortstop on the on-screen junior college team, the Bayford Bisons. The DVD & Blu-ray include deleted scenes with Darwin. Calvin Marshall is a heart-warming story about a kid who is trying to make his junior college baseball team but isn’t quite good enough. The story highlights what it takes to continue to be a person who dreams and takes risks even in the face of disappointment.
