This is the death that surprised me the most. I thought that Gypsy Queen was one of those untouchables. It wouldn't shock me to see this brand come back some day.
Then again, I never understood the need for GQ since there was already Allen and Ginter. I really lost interest in the set once Topps did away with the mini parallel cards.

FYI - the mosaic includes some of the inserts, so you may see more cards for a few years than listed in the chart.
I really like 2012, 2015 and beginning in 2017 it had a great run (except maybe 2021 set)
ReplyDeleteI do not think this set is ever coming back - I think it is more in the name than the set itself.
Calling a set Gypsy Queen is not going to fly in 2023 and beyond - on the front they went with GQ since 2018.
There are other old tobacco card/card names out there that maybe Topps could acquire and give us cards like these
Just noticed on the 2022 cards - the word Gypsy Queen does not appear anywhere on the card. - just GQ
ReplyDeleteThey could bring back a set called GQ - but that might have different licensing issue.
Had no idea Topps was ending the GQ run. Not shedding any tears over this decision. I liked the product when they had framed parallels, but even then... I felt like it was a product they should release once every four or five years.
