Five Random Cubs Cards

I've got 12,698 Cubs cards from 95 different brands listed on a spreadsheet. A random number generator picked five cards, one each from the past several decades.

1900s - 1970s: 1961 Fleer #52 Johnny Kling  This card came out almost 50 years after Kling played his final game.  He was the main catcher for the World Champion Cubs.

1980s: 1987 Fleer #556 Ron Cey Sorry Night Owl, don't blame me for this, blame the Random Number Generator.  Cey didn't play for the '87 Cubs; he was traded to the A's in January.  He lasted about 2/3 of the season in Oakland before he was released, ending his 17-year career.

1990s: 1997 Bowman #383 Todd Noel  The first Noel was no-good.  He never rose above A ball during his five-season professional career.

2000s: 2001 Fleer Ultra #7 Sammy Sosa Here's a nice action shot of Sammy hitting the bag.  Sammy had arguably the best season of his career in 2001.  He hit a career-high .328, had a career high with RBIs (160) and slammed 64 homers.  It was good enough to finish second in MVP voting (Barry Bonds and his 73 HRs won).

2010s: 2010 Topps Cards Your Mom Threw Out #63 Ernie Banks  This was one of three different Banks cards included in the CMT insert set.
