The 2017 Pro Debut set has three insert sets and a Cub prospect is represented in each
Ian Happ is In the Wings. Topps really went out on a limb with this one!
Topps teamed up with Ben Hill for this one. His blog, Ben's Biz Blog goes to different minor league parks looking for unique or unusual things. This card shows the South Bend Cubs team store. It is located in a former synagogue, which is located just beyond the left field wall. The synagogue closed in 1991 and the building was purchased by the city. It sat empty until is was repurposed as a team store in 2012. It has to be one of the most unique teams store locations in all of baseball.
The Promos Night set included the night when the Myrtle Beach Pelicans became the Mermen for one night.
Kenny Powers would be proud.
I also went ahead and got one relic from the Fragments of the Farm set. This is a piece of a flag that flew at the AAA Iowa Cubs home, Principal Park.
Those are some cool insert set concepts!
ReplyDeleteI've been to South Bend twice now and have really enjoyed it both times. Met up with P-Town Tom there last year!
ReplyDeleteThe store really was great. Excellent selection of products, especially considering its a low Single-A team. I wear my polo to work that I picked up two seasons ago. I hope the partnership lasts as I'll try to time it right so I can hit a game or two every time I head out to Wrigley.
