Five More On the Roster
In the past few days the Cubs have made several roster moves.
Yu Darvish got sick and Jen-Ho Tseng was called to make an emergency start. Tseng has been awful in AAA and was just as bad in his start, giving up three runs in two innings. He was sent back to Iowa. The look on his face sums up his performance.
Cory Mazzoni was called up to replace Luke Farrell, as the bullpen was getting thin. Mazzoni pitched on Monday and had a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Rob Zastryzny was brought up on Tuesday and made his first appearance that evening. He pitched two relatively calm innings. That earned him a return trip to Des Moines. He was replaced by...
...Justin Hancock. He made his MLB debut yesterday, giving up two runs in 1 2/3 innings.
Mark Zagunis is the fifth recent addition. He was brought in to replace Jason Heyward, who is on the 7-day concussion DL. Zagunis got a hit yesterday after going hitless in 18 at bats during his time with the team in 2017.

Man, it's been tough to keep up with all those roster moves lately!
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear Heyward went on the DL. Glad to learn Zagunis got a hit.
ReplyDeleteA whole lotta guys I've never heard of other than a couple with Bowman prospect cards. I can remember a time just a couple years ago when the Cubs were issuing press releases for the coming of kids like Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, Ian Happ, Jeimer Candelario, etc.
