I'm starting to complete Cubs team sets from various years of O-Pee-Chee. Right now I'm nailing down the sets from 1975 though 1994. Once I have that 20-year run finished, I'll go backwards and work on the first ten years (1965 - 1974).
Today's set is the second-to-last put out be the actual O-Pee-Chee company. Upper Deck would later buy the brand name and put out a few sets under the it.
The 1993 set is special because it marked the first O-Pee-Chee baseball set that used it's own unique design. It was an original design, not something licensed from Topps. I think they did a nice job, too.
The set consists of 396 cards and there are 14 Cubs cards. I also picked up a checklist since OPC's checklists were divided by teams, not card numbers. The 14 cards includes five players that the Cubs acquired in December. They are pictured in their old uniforms instead of being photoshopped. OPC added the little "Now With" tag so we would know why a Cubs player was wearing the uniform of a different team. None of the five were shown as Cubs in the 1993 Topps set, so kudos to OPC for being more accurate.
