I showed the 1977 O-Pee-Chee set last week, so I thought this would be a good time to look at the 1977 Topps set. It is much larger than the OPC, with 26 cards compared to the seven Canadian cards. We get some floating heads with an airbrushed Herman Franks, too.
I wonder why Topps used floating heads on the Cubs' team cards in the 1970s (and no other team).
ReplyDeleteCards from this time period are so familiar I can pick out which I saw as a kid and which I didn't. Although they're all in my collection now Paul Reuschel and Wallis still look foreign to me.
ReplyDeleteAlways thought the Hernandez card typified the Cubs, who had him both before and after he was any good.
