Veteran outfielder Mike Tauchman was recalled by the Cubs from Iowa on Friday and got into the game that night. He became the 36th player to take the field as a Cub in 2023.
Tauchman is a Chicago-area native, growing up in the northwest suburb of Palatine. He was drafted by the Rockies after a collegiate career at Bradley. He has had time in the big leagues with the Rockies, Yankees, and Giants from 2017 - 2021. Last year he played for Hanwha Eagles in Korea. The Cubs signed him as a free agent in December, 2022.
He put up decent numbers in spring training but didn't make the opening day roster. He was hitting .278 in Iowa before his recall.
The 36 Cubs line up nicely into a 6 by 6 mosaic.
