There seems to be lots of red and blue on these, especially with the cards from Donruss and Fleer.
In fact, when you look at Fleer and Donruss next to each other they seem very similar - blue border, names surrounded by red, team logo in the bottom left.
Reggie Patterson is a One-Card Wonder! ... I recently added the Ron Meredith Fleer card and thought he was the same, then saw the Donruss version.
ReplyDeletePatterson is on a multi-player rookie from Topps (1982 with the White Sox) if that counts. Other than that just minor league issues.
ReplyDeleteWell with the Cubs since Fleer and Donruss were blue border this year - they really work.
ReplyDeleteI think Topps comes in 3rd (Back in 1986 I thought Topps was probably the best set but that is historical bias) - I think Donruss had the best set this year but all 3 were close - A slight drop in over all quality from 1985.
There are a lot of cool shots here Donruss Brustrar, Topps Speier, Fleer Trout, Topps Lee Smith, Donruss Sandberg, Fleer Moreland -
Is Sandberg (Donruss) again? the best card here - I like how he fills the whole picture.
Now I remember why I liked topps because they had a bigger set they could get in the Hebners, Woods, Speiers, Lakes
👍
ReplyDeleteRemember they brought back Larry Gura in 1985 and he was so done. Lobbing left-handed beachballs over the plate.
