Billy Peach and Red

Archives 2017 is out and Billy Williams is among those on the checklist.  I'm still waiting for my base Cubs set to arrive, but I already have in had a couple parallels.

Each card comes with peach (/199), light blue (/75), soft red (/25) and black (1/1) versions.  The color names are not mine - they are Topps'.  I don't recall peach or soft red being used before.  It sounds like lipstick shades, not baseball card parallels, but whatever.

Here's what they look like:

The peach is really light and the soft red looks more like dark peach.  I wonder how many collectors were fooled by these.  The easy way to tell which is which is by turning the card over and looking at the numbers.  From the front, though, its confusing.

The best thing about these has been the price.  I paid $2.24 for the /199 peach and just 99¢ for the /25 red.  I don't think I've ever paid so little for such a low-numbered card.

I'm still chasing the /75 light blue and have no plans to get the 1/1 black.

  1. The 1/1 black Sandberg is going for a ridiculous BIN price, the reds and the blackless aren't cheap either... but what a good looking card.
