Eighties Alphabetically - Bowman

I'm planning to stay away from the major brands in this series, skipping Topps, Fleer, and Donruss.  If I was doing the 90's I'd also skip Bowman.  I decided to include Bowman in the '80s for two reasons.  First, there is just one year to deal with, 1989.  Secondly, this is the first year of the resurrected Bowman brand.

Topps brought back the Bowman name after keeping it on the shelf for over 30 years.  They not only brought back the name, but the set also saw the return of the oversized cards.  The 1989 Bowman cards are the same size as the 1950s Bowman, 2 1/2" x 3 3/4".

There are 484 cards in the set and 19 of them are Cubs.

It's nice to be able to read the autographs, because that is the only way to identify the players without having to turn over the card.

  1. Nice cards. They look pretty good, and even though not authentic, the autographs on the front of the cards give them a nice touch.

  2. McClendon's card is great. He was a big part of that 1989 season. Is there a Ty Griffin error version?
