2013 Darwin Barney Sega Card-Gen

Take a look at the 2013 version of Sega Card Gen's Darwin Barney card...

...direct from Japan.

The front of the card looks like a typical US baseball card. The cards are put out by Topps and it looks like they used a picture from the same walk off home run that is on...

...the Topps base set.  The only difference is the Sega card has a tighter crop.

The back is mostly in Japanese.  Thanks to the card, I now know that Barney is 178 cm tall and weighs 84 kg.  Other than that, I've got no idea what's on the back.

The entire Cubs team set from Sega has 14 cards.  I haven't had much luck putting the set together.  There is one seller that runs auctions on the cards every so often, but I've been losing out.  Besides the Barney card, I've got only one other.  I'm hoping for another auction soon that will give me a chance to complete the set.

  1. Hey there, just thought I'd give you a hand by translating what the back says. (Note, some of the words and phrases might not work or make sense in English).

"A second baseman who's biggest asset is his superb defense, became an everyday player in 2011 and played in 156 games in 2012. Offensively he's a free swinger who doesn't take a lot of walks, needs better plate discipline and leaves a lot to be desired. But defensively, he manned second base in 155 games in 2012 and only made 2 errors."

Card Gen is pretty unique for occasionally saying negative things about the player depicted on the card. The 2012 Craig Kimbrel SCG card mentioned how Kimbrel collapsed in 2011 and the Braves missed the playoffs as a result.
