Usually I'll grab the prices on the first of the month. In January I'll typically wait until the second, figuring that sales prices on New Years Day wouldn't be typical. Technical difficulties forced me to delay another day.
- The January prices are usually a mixed bag. More modern sets tend to go for a little more--my guess is people buying Christmas gifts, but not really knowing the actual value of a set and overpay.
- On the other hand, if you were in the market for a set from 1969 - 1972, you got some good deals! I'd speculated that those in the hobby aren't making big purchases of sets in December (they're spending their cash of Christmas presents instead). That means fewer bidders and lower prices.
- The 2013 set had a big bump in price...again probably due to gift buying.
- If you wanted to buy one of each, it will cost you $5,150.50. This is the best price in a long time and is $1,161.23 lower than last month. The low prices on the '69-72 sets are the main reason for such a low overall price.
